The aerial hammock and its movement provides a therapeutic sensory experience that is especially beneficial to those with special needs. The swaying motion of the hammock is deeply calming and provides a sense of retreat from outside stimuli. For children with (and without) special needs, aerial can help:

-Body awareness
-Motor planning
-Attention and focus
-Core strength and coordination
-Motor skills
-Vestibular input
-Proprioception and tactile input

In this training, you will learn the basics to lead an effective and safe class for kids with special needs. This 4 hour training will also cover basic hammock setup, safety and sample class formats appropriate for children with special needs. You do not need to be a yoga teacher to take this training but a desire to work with and help kids with special needs is essential.

YUP teacher rate: $100 or 2 volunteer shifts at Open Mind Yoga Hawaii (2:15-5:30pm weekday afternoons). Volunteer shifts not advertised to the general public but available for select trainees.
