Yoga Under the Palms is owned by Summer and Corey Rothwell, who thoughtfully designed our signature yoga lānai. While each of our locations has its own unique layout, all are rooted in our tropical surroundings—embracing Hawaiʻi’s climate and allowing for year-round outdoor yoga. As a family-owned business, we are continually exploring and integrating wellness practices that support our community, offering a wide variety of classes including yoga, aerial yoga, RIDE indoor cycling, and contrast therapy.

These spaces were created with intention: to help students reconnect with nature and step away from the constant demands of the modern world. The absence of mirrors in most of our spaces invites an inward journey, encouraging students to listen to their bodies and cultivate deeper self-awareness rather than external comparison. Native Hawaiian and tropical plants were carefully chosen to ground each space in place, honoring our roots as a Native Hawaiian–owned studio and creating an environment that feels distinctly Hawaiʻi.

We believe wellness is ever-evolving, and our studios evolve alongside the communities that inspire them. Taking class at Yoga Under the Palms is a living experience—one that changes subtly over time. One day you may find your attention drawn to a branch overhead; on another visit, you notice that same branch budding, flowering, and eventually releasing its petals to the earth below. A gecko might join you in savasana, or the gentle rustle of palms may carry you through your breath. When you step back into your day, our hope is that you feel renewed—grounded, present, and restored, as if you’ve just returned from a one-hour yoga retreat.

As the parents of two autistic boys, everything we create is deeply personal. Our family’s lifestyle and lived experience have shaped our vision for Yoga Under the Palms, inspiring us to create spaces that are truly inclusive, supportive, and welcoming to all. Our commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and community care comes from navigating the world alongside our children and understanding the importance of spaces where everyone feels safe, seen, and supported.

With the ongoing support of our community, we were able to create Open Mind Yoga Hawaiʻi, our nonprofit organization that offers weekly special needs aerial yoga classes for children and young adults (SPED Aerial). This work is at the heart of why we do what we do, and it continues to guide how we teach, design our spaces, and show up for our community every day.

Take class with Summer, a creative and dynamic teacher who leads many of Yoga Under the Palms’ signature formats, including The Flow, The Mat 50, Sculpt, and The Wild and co-facilitates teacher training. Behind the scenes, Corey is constantly fixing, refining, and elevating our studios—whether that’s improving the physical spaces, building new offerings, or spending time caring for the plants that make each location feel alive and unique.

It’s different here. From the moment you arrive, our goal is to make every student feel welcome—whether it’s your very first class or your thousandth. We don’t have a “type” of yoga student. Our community includes seasoned yogis, first-timers, seniors, kids, and everyone in between. Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, shaping how we teach, how we design our spaces, and how we show up for our community. We invite you to try us out and experience a space where everyone belongs.
